Active Recovery
Use 10-30 minutes of easy movement (walk, cycle, mobility) on rest days or after training to aid circulation and recovery.
What is active recovery?
Active recovery uses low-intensity movement to promote blood flow and reduce stiffness without adding significant fatigue. It helps you feel and move better between hard sessions.
How does it work?
Light activity increases circulation, helping clear metabolites and deliver nutrients without taxing the nervous system. It can reduce perceived soreness and maintain movement quality for upcoming Volume and Intensity sessions.
Practical application
Walks, light cycling, mobility flows, or swimming at easy pace. Keep intensity low (you can nose-breathe and talk). 10-30 minutes is enough. Pair with hydration and Sleep. Avoid turning active recovery into another workout.
- IntensityKeep it easy; nasal breathing, conversational pace.
- Duration10-30 min sessions on rest or post-lift days.
- PairingCombine with hydration and gentle mobility.
Common mistakes
- Going too hard and adding hidden fatigue.
- Skipping movement entirely on rest days, staying stiff and sluggish.
- Using “recovery” sessions to cram more junk volume.
