Mobility

Mobility improves when you load full ranges with control and address specific weak links consistently.

Train strength through full ROM, add targeted mobility for sticky areas, and pair with control/tempo work.

What is mobility?

Mobility is usable range of motion plus control. It supports technique, joint health, and performance in strength and Hypertrophy training.

How does it work?

Strength in long ranges, dynamic prep, and occasional static work expand and maintain ROM. Controlled eccentrics and pauses build stability in new ranges. Adequate load management prevents protective stiffness from overuse.

Practical application

Identify limiting joints (hips, ankles, thoracic spine). Combine 2-3 mobility drills with strength in that range (e.g., split squats for hips/ankles). Use pauses and controlled eccentrics in main lifts. Brief static stretching post-lift can help maintain gains. If pain persists, reduce load and address technique.

  • AssessTarget specific limits (ankle dorsiflexion, hip flexion, T-spine).
  • IntegratePair mobility drills with strength in the new range (pauses/tempos).
  • ConsistencySmall daily doses beat marathon sessions.

Common mistakes

  • Only stretching without loading the new range.
  • Random drills not tied to the lifts that need better ROM.
  • Pushing into pain instead of adjusting load/technique.
